Layered image compositing for your Mac

Compositor combines images with layers, folders, masks and blend modes, then refines them with Levels, Curves, Hue/Saturation and Camera Raw adjustments and GPU-rendered layer effects. It is free and open source under the MIT license.

What you can do

• Work with layers and folders, with opacity and Photoshop's full set of blend modes.
• Paint, fill, invert, blur and feather layer masks.
• Adjust images with Levels, Curves, Hue/Saturation, Camera Raw and more.
• Add Stroke, Drop Shadow, Color Overlay, Inner Shadow, Outer Glow and Inner Glow effects, rendered on the GPU and editable at any time.

Free and open source

No account, license key or purchase is needed. Compositor was created by Wonder Assembly LLC (MIT license). This build adds support for Intel Macs and is distributed from the official download site below.

macOS 15 or later, on an Intel or Apple silicon Mac (one universal build).

Before installing

This build is not Developer ID signed or Apple notarized. On first launch, right-click the app and choose Open, or allow it in System Settings, Privacy & Security. It has been tested on an Intel Mac; Apple silicon device validation is pending. Verify the download source and checksum before installing.

Install instructions

Open Compositor-1.4.5-universal.dmg and drag Compositor into Applications. Compositor checks for updates itself; updates come from the official download site and are signed with this project's own key.
